AC-MXNET-CBOX
The CBOX is the key to MXnet Ecosystem universe as the multicast routing, A/V data management, and control member of the team. The CBOX houses the system API used by MXnet Mentor and 3rd party control systems. The CBOX is POE powered and silently goes about its business of managing all things multicast and other data formats. The CBOX controls the whole Ecosystem, including audio/video switching/distributing, RS-232/USB/IR signal routing, video wall building, KVM and system management

AVPro’s American Manufacturing Initiative

This past Summer, AVPro sent shockwaves through the Commercial A/V industry by announcing the first steps on a path to manufacturing products in the United States would begin later this year. At that time, the factory, notably the former AVPro headquarters location in Sioux Falls, SD, had already undergone extensive remodeling and was housing a majority of the machinery ordered from Yamaha that will fabricate circuit board substrates and perform component parts insertion. Through the ensuing months, the line was completed and production test runs demonstrated failure-free precision with preproduction models.
Of paramount importance for making this capitalintensive investment was to skillfully craft products on these shores for compliance with the Trade Agreements Act (TAA), passed by Congress in 1979 and designed to limit US Government entities to US-made products (or products made in countries designated as fair trade partners). As you may be aware, we have a manufacturing partner, MTEA, in Shenzhen, CHN. Our collaboration has been fantastic, and it has markedly helped to fuel our success but has restricted our selling partners from soliciting GSA Schedule contracts with our video distribution products. Fabricating select, AVPro models from raw parts

TAA Compliance and the AVPro Revolution

Of paramount importance for making this capitalintensive investment was to skillfully craft products on these shores for compliance with the Trade Agreements Act (TAA), passed by Congress in 1979 and designed to limit US Government entities to US-made products (or products made in countries designated as fair trade partners). As you may be aware, we have a manufacturing partner, MTEA, in Shenzhen, CHN. Our collaboration has been fantastic, and it has markedly helped to fuel our success but has restricted our selling partners from soliciting GSA Schedule contracts with our video distribution products. Fabricating select, AVPro models from raw parts to final assembly in our hometown is the “pinch me” dream that eliminates that roadblock.

Expanding Horizons: AVPro’s MXnet TAA-Compliant Products

In early 2024, we will begin shipping US versions of MXnet 1G encoders and decoders, the MXnet 10G TCVR, and AC-EX40-444/ AC-EX70-444 kits that exceed TAA compliance requirements. Commercial integrators accustomed to doing business via GSA Schedule contracts will soon have new opportunities to expand the MXnet footprint into installations from which they were previously excluded. All of us at AVPro are proud to know that our company will be among a limited number of American-based manufacturers able to declare TAA compliance, and more so for the impact this will have on the Sioux Falls economy.

Network Switch Selection Guide

Above you can find each component of the ecosystem. Putting an ecosystem together is simple, with these determining questions you will know exactly what your installation calls for:

How many Sources? (this determines how many Encoder units you will need)

How many Displays? (this determines how many Decoder units you will need)

What type of signals are you using? 4K or 1080p (this determines how much data is needed)

With the above information you can use this chart to determine the network switch(es) you will need to purchase.

This guide will help you determine the model of network switch as well as the amount you will need for your next installation. We based the below chart on the number of “end points” you will be using, an “end point” is any place the audio/video signal starts or ends. The AC-MXNET-CBOX is the controller device and you will need to dedicate one end point for control. Once you know how many sources and displays are in a system you can pick the correct switch layout.
HOW MANY ENDPOINTS? WHAT SWITCH TO USE?
HIGH QUALITY DISTRIBUTION
WHAT SWITCH TO USE?
STANDARD DISTRIBUTION
CABLE LINK BETWEEN SWITCHES
24 End Points or Less AC-MXNET-SW24 AC-MXNET-SW24 N/A
48 End Points or Less AC-MXNET-SW48 AC-MXNET-SW48 N/A
72 End Points or Less AC-MXNET-SW48 and AC-MXNET-SW24 AC-MXNET-SW48 and AC-MXNET-SW24 10G DAC Cable (x4)
96 End Points or Less AC-MXNET-SW48 (x2) AC-MXNET-SW48 (x2) 10G DAC Cable (x4)
120 End Points or Less AC-MXNET-SW48 (x2) and AC-MXNET-SW24 (40 Encoders MAX) AC-MXNET-SW48 (x2) and AC-MXNET-SW24 (40 Encoders MAX) 10G DAC Cable (x2)
144 End Points or Less AC-MXNET-SW48 (x3) (40 Encoders MAX) AC-MXNET-SW48 (x3) (40 Encoders MAX) 10G DAC Cable (x2)
Every system needs a Controller for signal switching, so make sure you dedicate one endpoint for the AC-MXNET-CBOX.

MXnet’s Ecosystem includes formatting such as resolution scaling, full EDID management, multifaceted video walls, and includes the MXnet MENTOR setup and control tool - making installations easy on the integrator, while also presenting a major WOW factor for your client. MXnet is the ideal audio/video distribution method for corporate, education, hospitality, government, financial, and large luxury homes.
MXnet’s engineers have worked together with Netgear to ensure their switches work with our line of encoders and decoders. To make installing MXnet with Netgear switches even easier, Netgear has developed an “AVPro Edge Profile.” Once this is loaded, your switch will work seamlessly with the AVPro Edge encoder and decoders.
